Meet the IC Habitat E-Board Members!
Laura Murphy, Co-President
I'm a senior biology major with a Spanish minor at Ithaca College. I play varsity field hockey, give tours as a President's Host, and of course, serve as president of IC Habitat! I'm from Buffalo, NY, have an amazing twin sister and love butter pecan ice cream. I think Habitat is an amazing organization that allows you to build change and be involved in the lives of people you help. "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt
Shelly Danley, Co-President
I am a senior physical therapy major with an exercise science minor from Framingham, MA. I am the co-president of Habitat for Humanity this year and work as kind of a jack-of-all-trades helping our organization to run smoothly. Outside of my involvement with Habitat, I am also president and captain of the women’s club soccer team here at IC.
Kirstie Ingmundson, Volunteer Coordinator
I am a senior art history major and communication management and design major, currently transitioning to work as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Spring 2011 semester. I have enjoyed going on many weekend builds and doing promotion for IC Habitat in my time here at Ithaca. When I'm not busy with schoolwork, I might be found playing music, cooking or running.
Jackie Keating, Special Events
I am a sophomore double-majoring in communication management & design and sociology. I have been involved with Habitat since the beginning of my freshmen year, and I got the opportunity to join the e-board last spring. Last winter I went on an awesome break trip in Oak Ridge, TN, and I've also participated in local builds, as well as some cool events on campus like the Habidash and Sleep-Out. I'm excited to help organize these events this year, and I hope to help a lot of people get involved!
Heather Bissell, Special Events
I am sophomore from New Jersey, majoring in Business Administration & planning to concentrate in marketing and international business. I love chocolate and would love to travel around the world one day. I went to Mississippi on a break trip this winter and loved it. Outside of Habitat, I am also involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, Peer Advisors and Dean’s Hosts. I have been in Habitat since freshman year but just recently joined the e-board as Special Events Co-Chair and am very excited to get started.
Sarah Flade, Special Events
I am a freshman Business Administration major from New Jersey and serve as one of the Special Events Co-Chairs. In high school I did a lot of volunteer work and upon entering Ithaca I definitely wanted to join Habitat because you get to have fun while helping a great cause. I am a member of Women in Business Network and IC Business Link. I also have a job as a Helpdesk Consultant for ITS. I love hiking the gorges and going for runs around Ithaca. I am excited to be a member of the E-board and to help make this upcoming semester a real success!
Adam Polaski, Education & Advocacy
I’m a junior journalism major hailing from Collegeville, PA, and I'm the resident testosterone source on this year's board. This year, I plan on helping IC students better understand the issues of affordable housing and homelessness so that we can make a difference. Besides Habitat, I’m an editor of Buzzsaw magazine and help lead the efforts of the United Way Philanthropy Corps. I’m also a Big Brother with the Ithaca Youth Bureau’s one-to-one program, and I sing in IC VoiceStream, the coed a cappella group on campus. I love expanding my horizons about the surrounding area through IC Habitat.
Emily Holland, Break Trip Coordinator
I am a sophomore from Ballston Spa, NY studying business administration with concentrations in marketing and management. I am also a Student Leadership Scholar. I love to work out, and my goal by the end of my four years of college is to run a marathon. I recently became involved in IC VoiceStream, the co-ed a cappella group here on campus, and that also takes up some of my time. I am the Break Trip Coordinator this year for Habitat, which entails choosing locations, planning transportation and making budgets and proposals. If you have any questions about break trips, I’m your girl!
Marissa Darling, Treasurer
I'm a transfer psychology major, hopefully with a minor in the newly approved counseling program (cross fingers), in my junior year. Along with Habitat, I participate in SPA, To Write Love on Her Arms, and Up ‘Til Dawn. While still in high school I went down to Mississippi to help build homes after Katrina and had an amazing experience. Habitat allows me to continue this great experience—you should try it out! Join!
Kaylee Underkofler, Campus Liaison
I am a junior biochemistry major with a minor in outdoor pursuits. I’ve been a member of Habitat since my first week of freshman year here at IC. This year, I am the treasurer, which means I take care of all things finance. I’m also a Co-President of IC Adventures and a member of the Premed Society, Up ’Til Dawn, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tompkins County, and I write and produce a TV show for ICTV. Come out and show some support for Habitat!
